The Middle East Peace & Justice Alliance formed in 1998 (previously named Arab-Jewish Peace Alliance) in response to the on-going Palestinian/Israeli conflict. It began as an Arab Jewish Dialogue group and evolved into a more action-oriented group of people of diverse backgrounds who support a just, viable and lasting peace in Israel/Palestine for all people in the region, based on the principles of international law. We oppose the Apartheid Wall currently being constructed by Israel, demolition of Palestinian homes, illegal settlements, and the cutting down of olive trees. We are involved in direct action, lobbying, education and on-the-ground, nonviolent resistance to the occupation (mainly through work with the International Solidarity Movement). We support the work of the Palestine Children's Welfare Fund by selling Palestinian crafts to support local artisans and poor Palestinian families. We continue to sponsor speakers from Israel/Palestine and locals who have returned. We welcome members of all backgrounds and we collaborate with many additional national and local groups.
