The major anti-war movement of the 21st century will turn out to be the forgotten war in Colombia, South America, a conflict aided and abetted by U.S. military aid. The three billion dollars of U.S. aid has been called "Plan Colombia" and is now known as "Andean Regional Initiative."

The Colombia Solidarity Committee of New Mexico (founded February 2001) works for peace in Colombia in two ways: lobbying the NM congressional delegation and public education here at home among New Mexicans about US involvement in Colombia. The Committee also actively supports the peace movement in Colombia, which includes women's and ecumenical groups, intentional peace communities and human rights organizations, and identifies corporations profiting from war conditions in Colombia.
