Agua es Vida Action Team	The San Juan Chama Water Diversion Project is now supplying 50% of Albuquerque's tap water. At the end of 2010, Albuquerque will receive 90% of our tap water from the Rio Grande. Agua es Vida Action Team (AVAT) is a group of Albuquerque citizens who have many concerns about the San Juan Chama Diversion Project, regarding the emerging and potential contaminants in the Rio Grande. These include: radiological contaminants from upriver sources, Bromate, other disinfection byproducts, industrial chemicals, pharmaceuticals, herbicides, pesticides, BPA, and Perchlorate. AVAT wants to help make sure that the plan to deal with the contaminants is adequate and comprehensive enough to assure that the water will be safe, especially for fetuses, children, elders and people with any kind of immune system deficiency. We meet once a month at the Albuquerque Center for Peace and Justice.
