Amnesty International is a worldwide, grassroots human rights organization that works for the release of prisoners of conscience (men, women and children imprisoned for their beliefs, color, sex, ethnic origin, language or religion, who have neither used nor advocated violence), fair and prompt trials for all political prisoners, and the end to torture, executions, political killings & "disappearances." The local Amnesty International Group #101 holds monthly letter writing and planning meetings to take action on human rights cases and strategize ways to work in Albuquerque to promote basic human rights around the world. We meet on the last Thursday of the month at 7 pm at the P&J Center.
