Upset about the Endless Terror War, un-rebuilt New Orleans, public policy decisions?
Might it be because too much of America has been dumbed-down by having too few indelible learning experiences that teach us how the world works?
Have you worked through a challenging, real world experience and come back dumber, or smarter?
People's Lobby citizen-initiated American World Service Corps (AWSC) Congressional Proposals is built on the premise that indelible serving experiences make America stronger and wiser. With your continued support, we can create a strong Congress to pass the proposed legislation and change the world.
If enacted in this Congress, in each of the next seven years approximately 140,000 Americans would voluntarily serve in their choice of the Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, Habitat for Humanity, Head Start, Doctors Without Borders, Red Cross, International Rescue Committee, OxFam, Mercy Corps, State Conservation Corps, etc. By the seventh year, one million AWSC volunteers of all ages, or less than .5 of 1% of those aged 20-70+, would annually serve at home or abroad in existing governmental and nongovernmental organizations. After 20 years, Congress could consider sun-setting the legislation.

Americans want to peacefully and productively erase the growing Ugly American image, reduce terrorist recruitment, ameliorate poverty, and help stem climate change. The AWSC's cost effective financial incentives will build a peaceful, productive volunteer army that strengthens the world. Upon completion of service, volunteers would receive their choice of: Two years of community plus two years of state college tuition, Equivalent investment in one's Medical or IRA Accounts or as a home down payment or as a tax credit. All of the above would be transferable to friends and family.
