Thirty-three people interviewed for the position of co-coordinator of the Peace Center. Our interviewers had a difficult time choosing from among so many qualified applicants. Mary Nakigan is our new staff person. We bid her welcome, and we look forward to her introducing herself in next month's issue.

The current Art Project at the Peace Center features the pastels of Patti Gladstone. Don't miss it! Ends August 31st.

People before Profit is on summer hiatus.

The Declaration of Peace ( declarationofpeace.org ) is gearing up again to confront Congress over this illegal, immoral war in Iraq. You are urged to go to the website and download the 2007 Congressional Declaration of Peace. Send it with a letter from you and/or your group to Senators Domenici and Bingaman, and also to Udall, Wilson and Pearce, calling on them to sign the Declaration. Then on Friday September 21st - International Peace Day - join thousands of our neighbors from around the country and go to your local representative's office for a demonstration and possible sit-in.

Youth in Transition is broke. They continue to serve Albuquerque's young street kids, just on a smaller scale, with case-mangement, a mailing address, phone message services, referrals, payee services, advocacy for the cause and for the individual client(s), education to the public, clothing and food boxes if available, transportation when we have the money, crisis-intervention. They ask for help, maybe $10 (whatever) donation (one time or a continuing commitment), food and socks, office items (paper, ink for printer, printer paper), non-perishable food and bottled water, gas vouchers or bus tokens, free copy services. They want to do much more for this very under/unserved population. They are tax-deductible, 501(c)3. Info: Donna Rowe, 505-315-4664; ame1987bud1981@yahoo.com . Mailing address: 5555 Zuni SE, ABQ 87108.
