Women Demonstrating in Chiapas, Mexico

Spend an evening learning about the organizing experiences of women in Chiapas, Mexico, enjoying a potluck meal with your community, and purchasing exquisite handwoven crafts from Chiapas.

Celerina Nuñez Ruiz, the president from the Chiapas women's weaving cooperative (Jolom Mayaetik), will be giving a slide show presentation about the cooperative's experience participating in civil society movements and their struggle for economic justice in indigenous communities. Celerina will speak about the cooperatives community development projects to build leadership and provide alternatives in health care and education for indigenous women.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn about these women's experiences as well as purchase beautiful Mayan textiles hand woven by members of the cooperative. Support women organizing to protect their families and communities!

It is a potluck, so bring your favorite dish to share! Music and fun for everyone!
